Lunch Meeting:  Introduction to MySQL

GUEST SPEAKER(S)

  • Sam Pournazeri, California Air Resources Board

PROGRAM TOPIC

Have you ever tried to squeeze a large data set into Excel?  How did that work out for you?  Have you run into Access database size limits?  The need to process large data sets is becoming increasingly common, and we need tools that can do the job effectively and efficiently.  MySQL is an open source software package that meets this need.
Please join us for a hosted lunch meeting focused on an introduction to MySQL, and presented by Sam Pournazeri of the California Air Resources Board.  The presentation wlli focus on installation, relational database design, and performance of basic queries.  This is the second in a series of brown bag sessions focused on using computer software effectively in the environmental field.  We'll be looking for your feedback after this session, as well as ideas for future topics you'd like to see covered.

Who should attend?

This event is organized by the Mother Lode Chapter of the Air and Waste Management Association.  This event may be attended by students and their professors, and interested members and their colleagues.  We welcome representatives of regulatory agencies, academia, industry, community and environmental groups, and the consulting community.
