PROGRAM TOPIC
Join us for a series of green building events to learn about sustainability in the building sector and what individual homeowners can do with upgrades to their homes. In this first event we'll tour Village Homes, which is an award winning international model for sustainable community planned development. Village Homes remains one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Davis.
Also during this first event we'll tour the recently completed Parkview Place apartments, a modern, zero-net-energy custom designed building. The property includes design elements such as geothermal heat source energy, radiant heat flooring, solar PV, and rooftop water storage insulation. Green building experts will be on hand to lead the tour and a discussion.
A second event, to be held in mid-April, will focus on understanding building energy/carbon calculators, tools designed to help building owners understand their carbon footprint and how to improve energy efficiency. The third and final building event will be held mid-May at a conventional home that has received home energy upgrades. A discussion will be held to review results from energy/carbon calculators and renovation resources available for homeowners.
