Facility Tour:  J.R. Davis Union Pacific Roseville Rail Yard Tour

GUEST SPEAKER(S)

  • Aaron Hunt, Union Pacific
  • Gary Rubenstein, Sierra Research

PROGRAM TOPIC

Union Pacific's J.R. Davis Rail Yard in Roseville has been a feature of that community for over 100 years.  It is the largest rail facility on the West Coast, and it has been the subject of a number of air quality related studies and demonstration projects over the last six years.  These include the first ARB rail yard health risk assessment; UP/Placer County APCD MOU; introduction of gen set locomotives; Roseville Rail Yard Ambient Monitoring Program (RRAMP); AB 1222 remote sensing demonstration project; and Advanced Locomotive Emission Control System demonstration project.  We'll meet for lunch at a conference room at the Yard office, during which we'll see a presentation about the Yard and the air quality studies performed here.  After the presentation, MLC will provide vans for a guided tour of the facility.
